A new portrait-I think she's a mermaid...

This was really fun to make. I really got into a nice groove with it, and felt very inspired. Yay!!! I like how the hair turned out with the texture but also the way the different colors and the strokes of the brush combine to make her hair very "flow-y" (Is that a word???) I like the background too, I used some really cool stamps, Technique Tuesday Handful of Henna, which are just beautiful. They were so perfect for this! And I'm happy with the blending of the skin, which is still far and away the most anxiety producing part of painting portraits for me. The rest is pretty easy. But getting the skin and the depth and the shadows and highlights? Stressful. Of course I've only done like 8 portraits so far so after I've done 80 or 800 I'm sure it will be totally automatic. Gives me something to look forward to!!!
